They are finished!
With all the support and donations from the community and parks department Gale Surratt and the Down and Dirty Crew have successfully met and exceeded the goals! The Ben Gill pond is on its way to looking beautiful again. The children’s wooden play area at Ben Gill Park is clean and safe. Weeds are gone and some wood has been replaced. And most importance is our Veterans Memorial Park is once again a place where our heroes are can be remembered in beauty.
“I personally want to thank each one of you for all your hard hot work, your laughter and your thoughts. There was a need and our community stepped right up and made a difference. You are the community, the backbone that holds a town together. We stand not alone but together.” Said Gale after the project was officially closed.
Gale thou, is not going back to the couch. She is just turning around for her next project which is the Santa’s Workshop that will be hosted for the third time right after the Christmas parade. It is a kids event with different stations for kids, like book reading, decoration making, drawing, photo with santa and so much more. Last year around 230 kids passed thru Santa’s Workshop.
“We are still looking for a location on Moore Ave that we can borrow for about 4 weeks. This is an event that is based upon donations, it is free for the kids and their families” Said Gale. “The Santa’s Workshop starts right after the parade is over (December 10th) and lasts for a couple of hours and it is fully christmas decorated with several trees and gifts. It is an amazing experience for the kids” So if you know about a location that is vacant and can be used, please contact Gale on 469-964-8609.
