Terrell, TX – STAR Transit will now operate four-fixed routes in Kaufman County with the start-up of its newest service, Route 803 and 804 in Terrell and The Link (Route 802), on Monday, Dec. 4. Rides for this new service are free for the month of December.
STAR Transit currently operates The Trolley in Kaufman. Routes 803 and 804 will serve the city of Terrell with The Link connecting both services. Maps and schedules are available at STARtransit.org.
These services are made possible by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation Public Transit Division and through streamlining existing STAR Transit services in the impacted area.
“We are so fortunate to be able to grow to meet the transit demands of this region,” Omega Hawkins, Executive Director said. “We’ve built our organization and service network so that we are able to help our riders connect with where they want to go.”
“Our mission is one of service,” she continued. “We are collaborating and forging strong partnerships with our cities, counties and DART.”
The fare for the new service is $1.00 each way but citizens can ride FREE December 4 – December 29, 2017. Drivers do not carry cash so they cannot make change. If one prefers not to pay cash, tickets may be purchased online at STARtransit.org or during normal business hours at the Terrell office, 500 Industrial Blvd.
After December 29th, qualified seniors, veterans and disabled riders may continue to ride the fixed routes free. For more information on the qualification process, contact the Mobility Management Department at 877-631-5278.
Additionally, STAR Transit offers connections to DART from Mesquite, Balch Springs, Seagoville and Hutchins, according to Hawkins.
